Cristina Biaggi
Cristina Biaggi (1937) – Ph.D., has achieved significant recognition for her various contributions in the field of feminist art and Goddess Studies. Her works are a reflection and an extension of her lifelong interest in art, archaeology, women studies, literature and classics acquired at Vassar, The University of Utah, Harvard and New York University. She is the author of Habitations of the Great Goddess, 1995 (Italian ed. Le Abitazioni della Dea, 2019), In the Footsteps off the Goddess, 2000 (Italian ed. Sulle Orme della Dea, 2025), The Rule of Mars, 2005 (Italian ed. Il dominio di Marte 2025), Activism into Art, 2018 and Four Legs = Two, 2020.
For the last forty years she has been involved in activism, her artwork and writing reflecting her activities. She has also created large sculptural works, abstract collages, figurative work as well as portraits of people and their animal companions. Her work is in several public and private collections including Europa Parkas, Vilnius, Lithuania, Elizabeth Sackler of the Brooklyn Museum, Jane Fonda and Sean Scully.
In addition to her professional life as an artist/writer, Cristina has lived a colorful life. She has climbed some of the world highest mountains including Aconcagua in Argentina, crossed the United States on a Vespa, swam the Bosporus, did some smuggling, and travelled extensively in all the world’s continents except for Antarctica.
She has 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 2 dogs and lives in Palisades, N.Y.
